Namaste
(nah-mas-tay)
My soul honors your soul.
I honor the place in you where the entire universe resides.
I honor the light, love, truth, beauty & peace with you,
Because it is also within me.
In sharing these things
We are united, we are the same,
WE ARE ONE.
At this point most of the world’s population knows and/or uses the term “Namaste”. It is a multifaceted term, that creates a vibration to the one receiving the gesture and is the common greeting in yoga. You can use it as a greeting and to show thanks. It is a gesture to send a message of peaceful spirituality to the universe in the hopes of receiving a positive message back.
Namaste often times accompanies a slight bow, hands pressed together. Palms are touching and fingers point upwards, thumbs close to the chest, sometimes touching. Making that connection to the fourth chakra, Anahata. The gesture of Añjali Mudrā. Bowing the head to allow the third eye to tilt forward in a deep expression of respect to the divine within you and the universe.
Namaste
